A photo exhibition featuring Afghanistan in 1919-1929, King Amanullah Khan’s era, was held at the Embassy of Afghanistan in Stockholm.
Ambassador Haami, inaugurated the exhibition and it his welcoming speech said that when we talk about independence, we appreciate the sacrifices of those brilliant heroes who have devoted their lives in gaining freedom. Ambassador of Afghanistan added that the main goal of every freedom fighter is to defend national sovereignty, contribute in development and restore prosperity to their fellow citizen.
He also added that after decades of conflicts, today Afghanistan is in a better development pace. In the past 14 years, with the support of the international community and especially Sweden, we have been able to transform a disabled education system which was providing poor quality services to less than a million students with no girls, to a progressive system that serves more than 11 million children, that includes 40 percent girls, said Ambassador Haami.
Marking Afghanistan’s achievements in maintain women right, Ambassador Haam added, I am proud to say that women represent 21% of the civil servants and 28% of our parliamentarians. Women have got the opportunity to play their active role in different social, economic and political areas.
The exhibition was attended by senior official from the Ministry for Affairs of Sweden, Ambassadors, members of Swedish Committee for Afghanistan, SIDA, Journalists and friends of Afghanistan, who also attended a reception hosted by the Ambassador of Afghanistan to Sweden.
