Visa Application Guidelines
The Embassy of Afghanistan in Stockholm issues visas for the individuals residing in, and applying from Sweden and Finland. Due to regulatory constraints, we can only issue single entry visas valid for 30 days of stay. Those wishing to stay longer in Afghanistan can apply for an extension of the validity of their visas at the Consular Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kabul.
Under exceptional circumstances, double and multiple entry visas for a period of up to six months can be issued for the holders of Diplomatic and Official passports.
Applications for visas for the holders of Diplomatic and Official passports can be made by post or in person.
The holders of the Ordinary passports are advised to apply in person or through a registered courier company only. Postal service is not available for the holders of ordinary passports.
Applications will be processed in order of their receipt by the Consular Section.
Applications that are incomplete and/or are missing necessary documentation will not be processed.
Checklist of requirements
All applicants, whether applying by post or in person, must submit the following items as part of their application package:
•Visa Application Form – fully completed and signed. Visa application forms can be completed in three languages (Pashto, Farsi and English).
•The applicant’s passport (passports must have at least six months validity period and two blank pages left)
•One standard passport size photos affixed to the appropriate box on the application form (photos must be freshly taken and identical, taken directly off the face and show both ears)
•Applicants traveling for employment or work purposes must provide documentation from their present or prospective employer verifying the purpose of visit. The relevant organisation must contact the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan before applying for the visa in Stockholm. The Consular Department of MoFA will issue a Ref No which facilitates the issuance of an employment entry visa in Stockholm.
•Visa fee once paid is non-refundable.
•Employment/Work Visa once granted by the Embassy is not extendable in Stockholm. The visa can only be extended in designated offices (Consular Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) in Afghanistan.
1.Fees and all other consular charges are ONLY payable in SEK. Payment in any other currency will not be accepted.
2.Applicants who are applying in person can pay by credit or debit cards at the Consular Section.
For diplomatic and official passports free of charge.
Work/Entry visa: SEK 900, duration of stay 30 days, extendable in Kabul
Tourist visa: SEK 720, duration of stay 30 to 60 days, non-extendable

All postal applications must be sent by REGISTERED MAIL along with a return envelope to the following address:
The Embassy will not take any responsibility for the loss of documents.
The Consular Section of the Embassy receives applications from 10:00 to 13:00 Monday to Thursday, except on national holidays of Afghanistan and Sweden. For further information please check the Announcement part on the HomePage.
Collection of the Passports Monday through Thursday 14:00 to 15:00pm or as scheduled and explained by Visa Officer.
The reception office of the Consular Section is closed outside these hours as well as on Saturdays and Sundays.
After your completed application is received at the Consular Section, applicants will be asked to return on a specified day and time to pick up their passports.
After the Embassy has received completed application(s) with all the necessary documents and payments, visa will be processed within four to six working days.
Applicants applying by post, must take into consideration that it takes two working days for their registered documents to reach us and two days for them to receive the documents back. Therefore, applicants are requested to avoid making any travel arrangements before obtaining their visas. The Embassy will not accept any responsibility for delay in obtaining your visas or changes in your travel plans.
Return of original documents:
All original documents submitted as part of visa application will be returned to the applicant after the due process and on the same day as the documents are received.
